Finally found an apartment in Silver Spring off of New Hampshire on lockwood rd. The area seemed decent during my visit. I need some thoughts on this area in regards to safety.

That is a questionable area. I knew someone who lived in the high rise. He mentioned roaches, cars being broken into. Maybe things have changed. I would drive there at night and on a weekend Friday/Sat afternoon.

From what I remember, questionable????? As a singe female, I would not live there. There are better places. Where do you need to commute to (work, school)?

I moved in the high-rise about a month ago. So far it is quiet. Mostly military and grad students live here. I didn't like anything else off New Hampshire. I tend to drive over near Ikea to go shopping as opposed to shopping in the neighborhood. The problems at the building seem to be over-no roaches (according to the apartment boards online ALL the apartments around here have them)... The grounds are patrolled and I see the police around here all the time.

I would NOT walk around here at night alone-but I don't feel unsafe either. Its an apartment and if I hate it after a year then I'll move.
