Or people who know about the education system's hiring needs... I know that Baltimore County is in high need of teachers... what about Montgomery County, Carroll County, etc??? i would prefer not to live in PG county... sorry...
Any info would be amazing.

you know...i am from PA looking for a job in MD too. i thought it would be easier that here (it's all political and an over-abundance of college grads), but i was wrong! I've sent out A LOT of apps (MD apps are actually more confusing and more messed up than the other states i've applied to) and i still havent heard too much back. i've been on a few interviews in anne arundel county and am hoping to hear back within a week or so. being a new teacher these days seems hopeless!!! best of luck to you!

Follow up - you need to make lots of calls to get the ball rolling. Also, the more flexibility you have as far as what you want to teach or here the better. Good luck! I am currently looking at Howard and Baltimore counties as my commute to Bethesda from Owings Mills has gotten the better of me.

Thanks! I think Baltimore county is offering the most jobs and the most incentives... at least that I have seen. I'm kind of getting nervous though since everyone is telling me to stay far, far, away from Baltimore since it's dangerous... but that's not every kid's fault...so I'm torn.
Best of luck to you both too! Maybe we'll end up in the same district
I'll post if I find out anything job-wise.

I just finished 10 years in Montgomery Co. Pay is excellent especially if you have masters and they are still looking for plenty of teachers but it really depends on your area. . some areas have way more teachers than they need and other areas are always in need - special ed and science especially. Cost of living in Montgomery is very expensive. We are moving - want a Townhouse at a nice price

Have you checked out Mont Co's vacancy database: Vacancy Database Search Results
When I applied 4 years ago, I went through human resources, but when I got an ok through them, I used this page and found the schools with positions that I was interested in. I then emailed the head of the department that I wanted to work under at the school. I told them I was interested in a job interview and sent my resume. I got quite a few job interviews that way. I also dropped a resume off at all of the schools I was interested in teaching at - just in case.
For Baltimore co, you should send in your information (or fax - I have or can get a number if I need it). Then contact the personnel worker. Instructional Vacancies - Baltimore County Public Schools, Maryland <- link for job openings and BCPS - Department of Personnel - Ask the Experts is the page for the email addresses for personnel. they have listings that are not yet on he job openings page, so it is important to contact them.
I worked a bit with Howard co and they don't seem to have many openings.
Good Luck!
