Not sure how losing Southern-ness makes a state Northeastern. That there is where the MD South deniers have a hard time. They resort to just showing how MD is less Southern. It's like, they fight on a negative point. They try to prove so hard that MD is NOT Southern, meanwhile not proving how it's Northeastern in any way.

Exactly.

You can argue MD's lack of southernness until it's no longer southern and it still wouldn't be a northeastern state. Can do the same to VA and it would still remain what it is today.

Mid Atlantic is all you'll get, congrats. I still say it's southern but you're welcome to Mid-Atlantic if you really don't like facts.

There's nothing southern about Maryland the accent and the culture. We don't won't be apart of the Chitlins and hamhork region just because you are from country bama states that doesn't make us one of you. Dude you stay southern and leaves to our own region the lower northeast/mid Atlantic. I heard people down in Florida don't wear shoes especially the Black Folks and I'm Black myself lol. This thread should die!

Saying that Maryland is in the mid-atlantic is fact.

MD South deniers. More like MD fact acceptors. I've proven Most of Maryland is Northeastern in more ways than one. Politically it is more like the Northeast, linguistically most of the date has a dialect shared with Delaware, Southeast Pennsylvania, and Southern New Jersey, demographically most of the white population per county is of German descent, a characteristic shared with Pennsylvania and much of Upstate New York, etc. you don't believe me here is the link. http://upload.wikimedia.org/Wikipedi...County.svg.png.

Virginia unlike Maryland has completely retained its Southerness in most of the state. Demographically, culturally, linguistically and throughout its entire history Virginia was and still mostly is the South, whereas the majority of Maryland is lacking in almost all of those categories so if it doesn't look like or quack like a duck how is it still a duck? no the same argument can't be made. As far as Florida is concerned that state is both Southern and a region unto its own...there is no other place in the US like South Florida, including anywhere in the Northeast or Midwest.

You obviously didn't read what I said. I said you could do the SAME to VA and the same outcome would emerge.

I didn't say VA was northern, I said if the same thing were to occur to VA (loss of "southerness" whatever the hell that means) then VA would still be southern.

Take every bit of "south" out of VA for 300 freaken years and I don't give a damn it will STILL BE THE SOUTH.

That is the point. With the same applied logic MARYLAND WOULD STILL BE THE SOUTH genius.

Look at you Maryland... Just lumping yourselves in with some old southern religious laws like holding a test for public office!

A northeastern state wouldn't have such a law... Cause you know, we're not the south :-)
