Hi,

My family and I are moving to Towson in August and we have a 16 month old child. We are looking for daycare (either a home daycare or a facility) that comes highly recommended for this age. We'd like to have a place that offers the option of half a day instead of the full day during the week. I have found a lot of places for 2 years and older but not for younger. We also would like your opinions since we are looking for a trustworthy place.

Another possible option is a nanny. Any recommendations for referral services?

We'd really appreciate your help. I've researched this forum for advice on where to move and it has been really helpful. Thank you. I hope we can get some great advice on this topic also.

Kendra

Here's the official LOCATE child care website from the Maryland Committee for Children. It lists all licensed child care providers (both agencies and home care) and ages of children.

Thanks. I will look into it.

I was hoping to see if any one had personal experiences and recommendations for child care. Sometimes places/nannies sound or look good but reality can be different.

I will be relocating to Maryland this summer and we have purchased a home in Towson.

Have you had any luck finding child care yet? I have heard really good things about Apple Tree Child Care Center in Timonium and have my 2 younger children on the list to go there this fall. They do offer a part time program.

I am also possibly looking for a nanny to help out with getting my kids to and from school/preschool. We are also considering hiring a full time nanny and having the younger ones go to preschool 2-3 days a week. Have you had any luck finding a nanny agency?

Thanks.

Do not send your child to Towson University Day Care. My husband and I heard it was supposed to be the best...well its not...its nothing but a babysitting center. The teacher was never there so the assistants (the college students) handled the class. Also it is so expensive that it is ridiculous. We were told it would be around $500 a month, well it ended up being $800 a month and we never got a bill or statement so after 3 months they pull me to the side at school and tell me we owe $2187!!!!! FOR DAYCARE!!! Then when we tried to pay, the 3 ppl we talked to all gave us different amounts. They have no clue what's going on...We are extremely disappointed in this program that is run by college students. Very unorganized...
If you are looking for a great daycare where you get your moneys worth go to the Presbiterian Church or the Methodist Church on Dulaney Valley Rd.
