Yeah I must say, it appears Baltimore already 178 murders, 630,000 people, has already won murder capital for 2007. This year probably 52 to 55 or so murders per 100,000, at the rate it's going.

Yikes. Maybe that's precisely why they are recruiting teachers like crazy from other places to get a fresh view on things... I certainly have my work cut out for me...

Jessica, I have been reading your posts and want to point out to you that Baltimore City is not part of Baltimore County (where I think you said you were applying) The City is its own unique juristiction in state government. It is surronded by Baltimore County but has its own government, school system, police force, etc.
Baltimore County is a large varied place, but in general is alot more suburban and affluent that most of Baltimore City. So in short if you are applying for jobs in Baltimore County, you will not be teaching in Baltimore City and thus will be spared the worst of the worst.

man, I hope someday Baltimore can start to get better with its crime issues. My town (frederick) has had 4 murders (from the el salvadoreon family you might have heard about), which isn't bad though

My father was killed in baltimore, maryland March 31st, 2000, and still to this day no one has any information on who shot and killed him. Its horrible growing up with out a father, all because someone did not want to fight fair and pull out a gun, not realizing that was somebody's father... if only the murderer... whoever he is could have put himself or maybe even herself in my father's shoes, he/she would have thought twice before pulling the trigger... I say that one day my father's killer will be caught and justice will be served. =(
