Look into the schools a little deeper...Daly Elementary and Neelsville Middle are not good schools and both flunked the No Child Left Behind thing...also, gang activity at Fox Chapel Elem. Watkins Mill HS has problems...better schools elsewhere, plus, some schools have mostly immigrants now who barely speak the language. My nephew in 3rd grade gets little time with teachers now b/c he knows the language. I'm not against immigration, but this area is inundated and the schools are showing it.

Cat: A lot of Grad students live in University Park, which is an okay area.

There are 2 adults and a toddler in my family. I will be the only one commuting to UMD.

Having read so much about how PGC is like, I'm quite skeptical about staying there. I'm not familiar with Maryland (I live in California). I have heard good stuff about Beltsville and Bowie though. Do Graduate students in UMD live around College Park area too?

*I will start a new thread. Thanks!

Why would u drive to anywhere when you have that awesome Metro Rail for transportation. I am going to be working in DC shortly (moving from Va Beach, Va) and the metro only took 20 minutes, no parking problems etc.
