Default Least expensive areas to live around Olney?

I have a great job opportunity in Olney. I currently live in Michigan outside of Detroit. I would be accepting a job with a 50% raise over what I make now. I'm trying to get out of Michigan because it's going further an further downhill.

To the point, I'm concerned about the real estate prices. I won't be making tons and tons of cash. What I'm wondering is what recommendations anyone would have for the least expensive areas around Olney to live.

I really appreciate any input.

Prepare to drive at least an hour.
Look to West Virginia. Nothing in the State of Montgomery is inexpensive, especially around Olney.

You could look at Frederick or Carroll counties for a less expensive and more rural area. Baltimore County is a less expensive, urbanized alternative- Catonsville is nice.

Howard and Montgomery Counties have more affordable homes if you look at townhouses or older places that need work.

Try Olney Mill. I lived in Olney for 12 years, right off of Georgia Avenue near Olney Manor Park. It's relatively inexpensive compared to other parts of Olney and MoCo.

look off of rt. 97 north.

log into zip realty, and keep on searching to the north until you find something affordable. Westminster-Taneytown-Manchester is probably a 50 minute drive

What is your salary going to be, or better yet are you looking to buy or rent and how much can you afford of this? Do not forget that BGE(our electric suppliers) are in the process of raising our rates. I own a duplex, 4 years ago my budget biling was 150, it is now 230 and going to go up even more next year. Just food for thought.
