I work 1/2 mile from Avanti's - it is Jessup

The Helmand, on Charles St. in Baltimore. Afghan food, routinely rated one of the best restaurants in the state. And not that expensive at all. Do yourself a favor and get the sauteed pumpkin appetizer.

For any one who likes that old Irish pub atmosphere, Old Town Bowie Grill, good food, good live music, good beer, Guinness beer and my favorite Smithwick. Located in Old Bowie, Md. any time I'm back in Maryland and in the Bowie area I always stop there.

Just a warning, but it's been about a year since I moved so my info is a little dated but my favs were:
Tako Grill -bethesda- terrific sushi and even better sake (try the Mu)
Crisfield's -silver spring- Great clam chowder and ambiance
Parkway Deli -silver spring- Good NY deli style foods. (they also sell a wide variety of MD 20/20 but that's another topic )
El Tamarindo -silver spring/DC georgia ave location- Great Salvadorian/Latin food. Had the best enchiladas I still dream about.
El Tamarindo | Art Gallery | Restaurant | Lounge
Fortune Star Buffet -Rockville- very good Chinese food with a huge buffet. Not fine dining but as someone said, when you see a lot of asian people around you know it's gotta be good.
Royal Mile Pub -Wheaton- famous pub with amazing Shepherd pie. Nice Scotch list.
