Is Southern MD a good idea?
It seems a lot of people think Southern MD - outside of Prince George's County, anyway - is a great place for schools, quiet, and raising a family. I have been interested in relocating there from CA because the base at Pax is hiring. But I am 37 and still single. I don't want to stay that way. I thought the Pax area had grown a lot, but the stats here are actually disappointing in that regard. Of course, the county page isn't up and I can only look at Lex Park or Leonardtown by themselves.
Right now I live in a city with population of 100,000, but this is a bit deceiving for my concerns. My county has always been a family community, not one where the kids stick around. And between NAFTA and real estate, there are now even fewer single middle class women or men here that speak primarily English. And most of those are in evangelical churches which are pretty clear about joining their belief system.
I am not into the bar scene. I like sightseeing and photographing nature, especially birds. I'm not looking for some wild thing, just that she's gone beyond high school and has a head on her shoulders.
Has anyone as a working professional met their special someone in Southern MD - outside of a church group? Would you recommend a single person moving there - and if so, to what town or county? I've also read a lot of MD-ers are fed up with traffic and taxes, and like CA, trying to escape. Is this the case south of D.C. as well?

The region has close to 9 million people. You'll have your pick of the litter. Just don't limit yourself to one region because its close to where you live..

Southern Maryland is a great place to live and meet!
I moved to Maryland 7 years ago. I met husband from Maryland. There are lots of places here in California MD and especially a church here that has great groups for meeting singles. Also a divorce ministry.
Keep in touch or email me if you get relocated, will be glad to show you around.

My wife and I are also headed to PAX river from Dallas and I agree with many of the other posts on here, it's a terrible time to buy a home so we are looking to rent until the housing market crashes. The perfect place would be a sublet one room basement and very close to the military gate. We were thinking of Lexington Park, any suggestions for rental areas? We are quite, do not venture out much and do not entertain. Both are both white collar professionals.
