I've often wondered if the occasional "BOOMS" that slightly shake my house are coming from the BGE plant or something else over that way?

They happen several times a week, usually in the afternoon, and they seem like they're far away ... but still close enough to rattle my windows for just a second.

At first I thought they were maybe sonic booms coming from planes, but I noticed them happening when no planes were around.

It's been going on for years.

I finally got used to all the duck hunters shotgun blasts in the early morning, but I've always wondered about the "booms."

Anyone out this way know what the deal is?

Probably distant thunder coming across the bay. I live on Kent Island and hear them a lot. I look on the web at the weather map and can see the storm way off in just about any direction. The sound travels a long distance over water and does not lose it's volume.

BGE Blows their stacks now and then and yes, it's quite loud and almost like thunder. You'll get used to it
