Default The scoop on Nottingham?

I'm planning a move to the Baltimore area in a few months. I've got two kids (elementary school age) and I'm looking for somewhere suburban within 20 to 30 minutes of downtown. Does anyone know anything about Nottingham? In browsing real estate listings, it seems like I could buy a decent single-family home for $250k to $300k. Everyone we talk to mentions Columbia, Timonium and Towson as the desirable areas, but they are much pricier. Is Nottingham a nice town? Good for families? How about the schools?

Thanks for insight you can offer!

Nottingham is around the White Marsh/Perry Hall area, so if you spot the "White Marsh" threads here- that's the place we're talking about.

Rt 1 kinda runs right through it, but lots of stores/things to do. It is a very nice area, everything you could want is there. Perry Hall middle/high schools are great. Make sure your kids go to either Perry Hall Elem, Seven Oaks Elem, or Carney Elem. They are the better elem schools in the area. I would recommend living there- very nice!

One of my best buddies lives in a nice townhome near White Marsh mall, off Honeygo Blvd. It's safe and White Marsh has decent shopping/basic dining options/good movie theater.

If you're looking to spend $250K on a house, I'd go for a nice TH rather than an old single family, unless it's a little more tucked away or really in the Perry Hall area. Good schools, for eastern Balt. County.

Personally, yes, I'd choose Columbia, but Nottingham is a very good spot and certainly one of my top choices for affordable home prices.

Default Nottingham is nice

There is a Nottingham in the Whitemarsh area that is a nice place. It has all amenities. You dont want to go further south then the Route 40 and 695 exit though. That can get rough.

Default Nottingham MD

Nottingham is a lovely little town/hamlet. My Grandmother lived on Nottingham Road. Definitely a place to consider.
