You do have George Washington (A10) and American University (Patriot League). The obvious is GU, which is a Big East charter member from 1979. Georgetown was part of the Eastern Intercollegiate Conference before the Big East and that was mostly a Northeastern conference. BC like Georgetown are charter members of a Northeastern conference.

To answer the question, Maryland isn't Southeastern like Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
Maryland is definitely Southern like Virginia, Georgia, and Florida.........

Before the Civil War I probably would have said yes. After the Civil War, definitely not. Politically and culturally Maryland has turned decisively Northeast. From Washington, D.C. to Richmond Virginia is like traveling between two different worlds. Even most of Northern Virginia (D.C. area) I would say is more Northeastern than Southern. The Bos-Wash corridor pretty much settles this debate, at least for me.

No, I do not consider Maryland to be a Southestern State. To me, it is as Northeastern as NJ, PA, NY, and MA. I say that because if you look at a map of the USA, Maryland is further north than center between Maine and Florida. Before Florida was a state, I would say that Maryland would be a Southeastern State.
Culturally, Maryland, as most states do, retains traits that are both associated with Northern and Southern states.

That said, I have seen this debate many times with a good portion of Marylanders wanting their state to be considered Southern. To that I say that it is what is one's own heart, not what other people say, that makes one a Southerner or any other geographic denonym.

Culturally I'd consider Maryland a Northern state, with Baltimore carrying an East Coast vibe just like DC, NY, Philly & Boston. Historically, it is a Southern state so I suppose that designation still fits, but I think for most Americans we automatically assume the South begins at the Virginia state line.

Pretty much.

Personally I draw a line from the southern border of Delaware to the Ohio river. So by that small bits of Maryland and West Virginia are southern, and if you do enough research that line makes a ton more sense than the Mason Dixon.

But by state I say Kentucky, Virginia and southern most WV (basically south of Charleston) are the top of the south. West Virginia is definitely split in two.
