Re-Founding
I have really enjoyed your posts, even though they are a bit confusing, I attribute that to your indecision as to how much to share.
You DO realize the huge underlying issues you raise are far too complicated for even the AG to address? I agree with the advice to file whatever claims against Mr Williams et al and move on. Your fine work will not be tarnished by any association with them. The troubling thing to me is how someone as sophisticated as yourself could become so entangled.........I gather the situation deteriorated while you were involved, but you at least sized them up as being reputable for awhile. I sense that there were significant good intentions on the part of some individuals, but the whole thing just rotted from the inside when the money started pouring in. It was easier to just focus on cash flow and not worry about the actaul business. The Gov't has not raised any issues with the mortgages (yet), and I just don't expect much in the way of restitution. Those small business owners (like Sam's Pizza) were not severly injured, they had little risk in signing up. Most incredible is the denial and loyalty at any cost of the members........it can't last with mortgages not being paid. I've still NEVER heard a single rationale response from any investor that made any sense to me, it's always the same......."My mortgage is paid!!!!" So what are they sayin now?

I WAS STUPID YES YET I WAS SOME WHAT CAUTIOUS. I OWED 357,000 AND MY HOME WAS APPRAISED AT 500,000. I ONLY TOOK OUT 50,000 WHICH LEFT MET AT 407,000. I WENT NO FURTHER CAUSE I FIGURED IF IT WENT BAD I COULD AFFORD IT. YES MOST OF US WERE SUCKER'S AND THE REST WERE JUST PLAIN GREEDY. I RECEIVED A GOOD PORTION BACK, HOWEVER I LOST ABOUT 16 GRAND. BUT IM NOT BITTER AND SURE AS I SIT HERE I DONT THINK I'LL EVER SEE THE REST OF MY MONEY. BUT I HAVE A SNEAKY SUSPICION THAT HE MAY BE HIDING THE LOOT. FOR A RAINY DAY. I KEEP IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH WHATS GOING ON, BUT IM NOT OVERLY OBSESSED BECAUSE I KNEW THE RISK AND I TOOK IT. SOME PEOPLE JUST GOT TO GREEDY AND WENT IN WITH ALL THERE SAVINGS, RULE #1 PUT YOUR TRUST IN GOD NOT MAN. NO IM NOT ANDY AND IM NOT AN INSIDER BUT MARK MY WORDS HE WILL COME UP WITH SOMETHING BECAUSE IF HE DOESN'T HE WILL CERTAINLY GO TO JAIL. BY WORKING IN THE COURT HOUSE I CAN TELL YOU THAT MD TALKS TOUGH BUT THIS IS A VERY LIBERAL STATE. TOUGH TALK BUT THEY WILL DO LITTLE . VIRGINIA ON THE OTHER WILL GET HIM FASTER THAN MD WILL. THATS WHY THE DC SNIPER WAS TRIED IN VA AND NOT MD (GOD BLESS THE VICTIMS) HE ACTUALLY

Congratulations on the refinance!!! You are one of the lucky ones. Think about the ones whose appraisals went through the roof and w/multiple homes.
The only reason I can think of why a decision has not been made is b/c of the U.S. Attorney criminal charges against Andy, and the info being gathered from other municipalities involved. They might be uncovering additional data from the sworn testimonies. Per PurpleKoolAid's post, they literally put their foot in their mouth (Perjury).

Wow, IMBACK....I thought I was becoming cynical in my old age! I pray you are wrong but I just was talking with someone today and said that when all is said and done, few of those who should be punished will be. Go, go VA!
On another note, I did a MDH search tonight and found a new sight telling about it. The one comment submitted mentions that MDH is also doing this with cars???? They said to check out Dream Ride deals. I did a brief search and didn't see anything about "Dream Ride deals." I also would guess that is is really hard to hide $50K in an overpriced car ! Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or if they confused and are mixed up with the line used by DR? whatshisname. "No one would finance a $100K car to you for 30 or 40 years so why should we be paying for our homes for 30 or 40 years?" And I will say that this statement, full sound reasoning, being spouted over and over really irked me! Even I, who had to drop Logic 2 xs before finally accepting a "C" on the third try, can see all the flaws in that reasoning...which is one of the premises he used to build his whole speach!
Anyway the site with the comment is: Metro Dream Homes: A New and Dangerous Real Estate Scam - Associated Content

Dunno about the mechanics of the 'dream rides' program, but the dream homes program numbers never worked either.......investors bit anyway. The MDH page on myspace is still up. Credit to youvebeencrackedindahead for the original link from scam.com:
(notice they reduced thier offer to 50% of the mortgage payment in May!)
MySpace.com - We pay your Mortgage off in 5 to 7 years! - 99 - Male - southeast, Washington DC - www.myspace.com/metropolitangrapevine

Wow! I never made it to that site from scam. That's how I missed it.
Take note of this line from that site:
"With a brief evaluation, we can determine your eligibility for the program. We have all the in-house resources necessary to do fast closings, lending, appraisals and more. Reach out to us today, to learn how you can end your mortgage payments within the next 60-90 days!"
They specifically said in their very articulate, taped and proudly posted rebuttal to the Post that they had NOTHING to do with the lending and appraisals.
I am amazed that this scam made it as big as it did. Five year old children are better at lying!

What an insane situation
It is pretty amazing how this disaster has turned up so many kooks. I may have a different opinion of who the kooks are here, but there are not many people who I believe. Of course there is no way to verify much of what has been posted here. So we all can believe what we want.
Personally, I am not sure if I should believe that MDH has refunded a single penny. At this point in time, why would they? With 950 mortgages going unpaid, how would giving partial refunds to a small handful of victims help their situation? MDH can not bring in any more cash in MD and VA. Even if they continue to operate in other states, I don't see how a trickle of good news would overcome all the bad press they have had up to this point. I also would expect the real estate agents and loan officers to be a lot more wary now that BB&T has terminated personnel for dealing with this scam. That kind of news travels fast in the financial circles. So how much cash can MDH be bringing in now? Not much!
Maybe I am too cynical, but I think there is more than one MDH agent posting here, or maybe one person using multiple persona. I think that in the final collapse of the scam they are grasping at straws. Although I don't think anyone rational would give a hoot about this thread (or the scamdotcom thread) I don't know how rational MDH principals are that this point.
Can anyone verify that *any* refunds have been given to victims of the scam?
