I am taking a job in Linthicum and am looking for a place that's a decent commute to work, but still accessible to D.C. I have been using mapquest to judge but I haven't been able to account for traffic or reverse commuting or anything like that.

I'm looking for a place well suited for a 30 yr old single guy, but also a place where I can park my car on the street without any concerns.

I lived in Alexandria, VA a few years ago and that was great. Something like that would be perfect.

Alexandria, VA ... was great.
You're not going to find much beyond "suburbia" until you're into DC proper...
let alone anything resembling Alexandria.

But even if you lived right in Linthicum you're still rather accessible to DC
(30miles?) and parking shouldn't be a concern at all.

Next choices south (unless you want to be in Ft Meade)...
are Laurel or Greenbelt. Of the two I'd pick Greenbelt.

hth

Thanks. What would you be your opinion of Odenton, Arden on the Severn, Glen Burnie, or Annapolis?

For the 30yo single guy who is missing Alexandria? Annapolis.

Agreed that you're not going to find anything like that between Linthicum and DC.
Depending on how often you plan to hangout in or go to DC or Alexandria -- I'd consider the shortest daily work commute locale that I'd want. And deal with going to DC or NoVa, whenever I make those trips.

If you just HAVE to be halfway between each, work and DC, I guess Greenbelt works (although it is closer to DC than Linthicum, it's 25 miles each from Linthicum and Alexandria)

Hmmm... I'll have to do some searching in that area. How is the usual traffic between Annapolis and Linthicum if any of you guys know. Thanks.

It's definitely suburbia, but a fairly easy commute to Linthicum, DC, and Annapolis would be Crofton. I live there and my office is in Linthicum (by the airport); commute isn't bad. You can jump on 50 to get to DC and the commute to Annapolis (for recreation) is fairly simple.
