I am an art teacher in Pennsylvania, but I grew up on the Jersey Shore. My husband and I are looking to relocate to Maryland, as he spent summers in Ocean City as a child and we are both in love with the beach.

My problem is this...I know nothing about the rest of Maryland outside of Ocean City and I wonder if there aren't other beach cities nearby that might be nicer to actually live in.

We are both in our mid 20's and we would be looking to rent at first and it doesn't have to be any place remotely luxurious. We would like to live somewhere sort of "happening" (or near somewhere happening) or near some kind of night-life because we do like to go out. But we are willing/expect to live in a crummy apartment or row-home.

I also would love any advice about school districts that might be looking for teachers or if anyone knows good teaching empolyment websites for Maryland.

Thanks!

I would try Delaware actually. There are very liveable places north of Ocean City, MD by about 1--15 minutes or so, including Selbyville, DE, where my in-law's live. Don't know what the teaching market is like there, although I know there's a lot of construction, so I would guess more people are coming to the area, some of which need to be taught! DE is also better from a tax standpoint than MD.

Yeah, I agree with the previous poster, Delaware is also better financially and you can live right by Ocean City if you're really dying to be there.
