Floridabrit is on a distinguished road
Default Another relocation question

We are thinking about relocating to Maryland, anywhere that is affordable. We will not know what area to look for a house in until my husband has a firm job offer. He was born and raised in Baltimore. Anyone know anywhere that needs an Executive Chef?!
I just don't know about this whole moving thing. I have unwillingingly been living in Florida for 17 years, and have wanted to move pretty much since I got here but now that it's in my face, I'm panic struck. So much to think about, we will be leaving in-laws (babysitters) behind, need to know where good schools are, will the children be happy, will there be more to do than in Florida? Florida is so diverse, people come and go so much but despite that I have managed to make a few friends, mostly at the gym, I just wonder if it's all worth it. Every winter I moan that it's too hot, and how I wish it could stay in the 30' or 40's just for a day/week, but will I like it when I have to deal with that and colder for weeks/months on end? How will my Florida children cope? They went swimming in our pool the week in between Christmas and New Year last year!

Well the kids won't get swimming unless its at the local gym but they can make hellacious snowman. Its worth it and you'll meet tons of different interesting people. 17 yeas in that humidity, must make your skin feel like a baby....But the region is happening and now is a great time to be here...

Thanks - it's a tough decision that's all. Have been told Calvert County schools are excellent, which is one area where my husband has had a "nibble" as far as work is concerned. Yes 18 years in England and 17 years in Florida, I suppose it's time to spend 17-18 years somewhere else! Just daunting and scary as heck.
