We are from the Northeast, believe me we do not consider ourselves from the south.

terrapin- congrats on getting into Pharmacy school! can't wait to hear your opinions on Baltimore. and unlike most out of area students u frequent city-data so you can find out where in baltimore/area to explore.
i just did a waffle house search and there are 3 in frederick and 3 in Harford County . don't remember that many stores before. it seems like there was one up I95 in cecil co at least around bmore.

I just watched a show on television about a family talking about moving from Nashville to the north and what a transition it will be for them. Where are they moving? Baltimore. That about sums it up. Maryland is in the north.

Vivo thanks....actually some quick advice....what's the most common bank in Baltimore? I have Chevy Chase Bank right now cause at the Univ of Maryland in College Park they push checking accounts from Chevy Chase and they even named the field in Byrd Stadium after that bank but it has no branches outside the immediate DC area.
Is Bank of America or M&T more common in Baltimore City? I'm closing my account with Chevy CHase because I do know I won't be coming back to Montgomery County. If the Baltimore area and the rest of Maryland like Annapolis, the Eastern Shore or other rural areas can convince me to stay...maybe...if not I'm going on with my plans to relocate South or West.
I'll post this on the Baltimore city forum too.

The closest Waffle House to my house is off Exit 26 on Interstate 270 in Frederick County....definitely checking it out! Now if we can only get Bojangles and Sonic to Maryland too, or to Montgomery County

Thanks sundaze I've been pretty busy with work, class and hanging out. Also the 24 forum takes some time because my friend wrote his own season of the show and I did too.

there are some chevy chase atm's in balto. according to ccb's webpage there is actually an atm at the university of baltimore (check site for exact location) if that is where u r going for school. there are a decent amt of chevy chase atm's in the bmore area but check the site. I am not sure where u will be living. m&t might be a little more common in the city. I have banked with ccb in owings mills as well as columbia. i don't think the atm's are quite as common as in the dc area per capita. they are in many giant food stores. seems like boa has the most atms.
as an aside I don't think bofa is known for customer service. i'll bet m&t vs ccb not based on sufficient info. also credit unions are generally better than banks in most situations. perhaps banks are better at high money balances and some other stuff. anyway check up on this issue if u want.
about atm's i think most or all? cu's in the US are part of a network where u can use another cu's atm for free here is a search I did out of the allpoint atm network using the 21230 (includes federal hill just south of the inner harbor) cu's have better service, better loan rates etc ive read.
Allpoint - America's Largest Surcharge-Free ATM Network=
here's one credit union in md:
SECU Credit Union - Online Loans, Free Checking, Online Banking
I still have a bank lol out here. i want to switch or get an additional cu acct.

It's not that simple, because it depends in which area of Maryland you are from. The Eastern Shore considers themselves Southern, as does Southern Maryland. Northern and Western Maryland considers themselves Northern.

I am from Baltimore and I am southern. I was born in Maryland and raised southern. I have a Baltimore dialect with is southern, and we all wear golds. But at the same time.. I have eastcoast ways and tendencies.. thats what you get from a southern state situated on the eastcoast.

and there are alot of different southern accents here. Honestly, outsiders think of MD as a built-up, fast-pace state but Maryland is Majority Rural. We have one Major city, Baltimore, its Suburbs.. D.C.'s suburbs.. the rest is small towns, mountain, farms, swamps, rivers, and forests.
