Ok and my Maryland cousin called my Alabama cousin a "COUNTRY A-S-S" lol.
When you say Mid atlantic what do you mean?? What states included?? Or are you basically trying to identify with just being in the middle? If so geographical wise i can see it.Mid atlantic usually has so many different states included some north as New york and south as North Carolina, though tend to see DELAWARE/DC METRO AREA/BMORE being considered Mid atlantic.

Yep, basically, I'm just saying in the middle. Like I said, I personally don't identify either way. I think I'd rather stay neutral. There are aspects of both north and south in this area, but they are so blended that I think we are just smack dab in the middle now (culturally and geographically).

The southern influence in most areas in MD derives from the steady migration of southerners to the region over the course of decades until some years ago,the northern i think is just whats naturally part of the culture, those in Howard County with the midland northern dialects have ties to Maryland generations before the big migration of southerners.Southeast,DC residents definetly originally from the south, the southern dialect there in many residents is so thick it makes me say,how long you been in DC?? lol. Also not to forget the very not so receptive or strict religious beliefs like southerners, and the weather is very similar to that of Nyc and areas south and north of it,politically you know its definetly liberal, you hit Virginia and its conservative lol.I certainly wont dispute it being in the middle because it almost is though the location is a bit more northward than in the middle on the eastcoast, with some extreme southern areas stretches southward alongside Virginia.

But you're jumping all over people, even after you've made your point, and even on other threads.

I didnt jump on anyone,i simply respond to whoever i choose, thats what the board is for.It is not my fault the strength in my arguments are rather vigorous lol. This is a messageboard, its to disagree, debate and etc.The problem comes when members start insulting you like 2 of them did toward me in another Forum.I prefer the civil way of expressing both sides, debates are rather pointless with name calling, its why i am dusgusted with the political analyst on Tv who hoop and holler over each other, trying to express a point, yet the result is none can ever come to a conclusion.
No offense, but what are you stalking me on the boards? I barely even make topics in other threads, and just registered a few days ago.
My question to you is,why are you jumping on me for simply responding or making a topic without insulting or harassing anyone. If i choose to respond,i will respond, even if you felt i made a point, that does not mean i will stop responding,i stop responding when i choose to,if i disagree with you i will say so if i choose to.What i will not do is call someone names.I never stoop to such ignorance.

MDisNorth, it seems like we are getting somewhere now since you mentioned the "Dere" vs. "Thurr" opposition. I wouldn't say that this difference defines the Southern Dialect since nearly all African American dialects are considered Southern and they mostly use the "Dere" pronounciation.
I just don't understand your animosity. You seem to be so sure of yourself and your opinions, but when you are questioned about it you respond with gigantic blocks of rambling, insulting, and confusing text. I actually read back over some of your posts and found some useful info but it was nearly lost in the explosion of inane comments like "MD is SOOO North it is not even funny," and stuff like that. It is hard to take your lingustics seriously when it is presented in this context.
Anyway, I don't think you are really open to anyone elses opinion on this but your own so I will just leave you to it. Good luck.
