Default Brunswick elevation

I've heard that flooding is a concern for residents of Brunswick, MD. Is it high above the potomac or pretty much right on the water? Just wondering, as I have seen scenic vistas passing through by Harper's Ferry, and it looked like it might have been elevated off of the riverbank.

Thanks!

Here's a recent article on the floodplain in Brunswick. It looks like only 41 houses have been designated as being in the floodplain.

The Frederick News-Post Online - Frederick County Maryland Daily Newspaper

The current FEMA map shows six houses in the floodplain, but new FEMA guidelines will place 41 homes in the 100-year floodplain. Most of those are on Walnut Street.

To say the least, Brunswick is hilly. There are only 2 roads that run directly from the top of the town to the river. I have been there in the summer and needed my SUV to get off some of the gravel roads because of the slope. You will need 4 wheel drive in the winter to get about probably. The city has a floodplain program in place and also a detailed drainage program to handle runoff. There are also Forest Conservation areas throughout the town.

The City Council and the departments are thinking smart - and are evaluating/addressing issues. They are promoting development of Potomoc Street for businesses.

I am a REALTOR - (not advertising) - so my knowledge of the area and the upcoming changes is much more than the average person. I want to move there - for the lifestyle, the convenience, the possible increase in property value (longer term) and the people (really, really nice). I don't have school-age children so schools are not a priority (there is nothing wrong with them it just doesn't concern me).

Same here with the kid situation, but I like the fact that the community seems to be involved with the schools and people actually care about what's going on in them.
