Severna Park is a very nice community. However, like other posters have said, you wouldn't realize how affluent it is just by driving by. It's an older suburb, so you're not going to find too many of the mega-subdivisions that are so prominent in places like Hartford County or the DC suburbs.

This is correct. There are alot of subdivisions over by Severna Park High and they are putting two up right now next to Earleigh Heights Fire Station.

Ok...let's see if I can pull some of this together.

If you are looking for "Country", you either need to move to south Anne Arundel, Calvert County, Eatern Shore, or Carroll County.

I think the biggest drawback is that Severna Park isn't necessarily a "main street" type community, but has a ton of nice areas. Blue ribbon schools, etc. But be careful, there are a few schools that use the open classroom approach, which is difficult for some youngsters.

Glen Burnie...I would not move to Glen Burnie. I would rather live in a townhome in Severna Park or Arnold than a single family home in Glen Burnie. Now this is my opinion, but I have gathered this information from people who work and live in Glen Burnie. Are there nice spots in Glen Burnie? Sure. But they are becoming fewer and farther between.

You want the nice spots to be norm, not the other way around.

Severna Park is family oriented. Just drive by the high school on a nice weekend or check out the BA bike trail...there are always familly-oriented activites going on.

Again, I also like Arnold/Broadneck for similar comparisons to Severna Park.

Always remember, if you are re-locating check the property taxes, they may be much less than what you were paying elsewhere in the country and therefore, may make a higher home price more affordable.

Good luck!

Manofsteel makes a good point. The eastern shore is being overbuilt just like everywhere else and it's a hike to most areas so i'd steer clear.
