Its sad that people bash Pg county in a way that folks who were planning on moving here get so scared they change their minds. Its also sad that the ones who bash are 98%of the time white and have never step foot in the county before. Iscalder, being a newbie on this forum, you make it seem as though "WE BLACK" HUMANS..AGAIN..HUMANs..H-U-M-A-N-S..are some type of disease or something why is that..this is kind of your forte' WE ARE PEOPLE!!! I was born in MD and live in the south where racism is disgusting bc people are so ignorant..what is it with you..are the blacks like an alien with some type of unknown disease?? What is it with the remarks..so what if it is African American pre-dominantly live there..does that make it bad?? That is just like saying white neighborhoods are racist..THAT IS THE MOST IGNORANT STATEMENT MADE!! I am the only BLACK in my neighborhood and the only Single Parent home, yet and still i have the most expensive and largest custom home in the community and I have neighbors that don't speak nor feel I deserve to be here just bc I AM BLACK, they have actually made rude remarks to my sons and I..but i have learned all people are not ignorant so my children and i sit and enjoy our lifestyle and laugh at the ignorance of people and move on..life is too short to continue that vicious cycle...I am relocating to MD from NC and my brothers are there and they live in Bel-Air and Baltimore County in nice upscale communities and there are a handful of blacks but they are respected as a person not a color...WE ARE ALL ONE RACE...THE HUMAN RACE..so please stop that..we have too many other issues going on in this world to address other than race..the world is falling apart and trying to regroup and is that all you focus on?? Just take it easy with your conclusion and th way you perceive the truth..more than likely you just speak on behalf of your circle..the world is a rainbow stop being small minded..that is why the youth today are sooooo crazy..look at the adults that are leading the way..take all that negative energy and make a difference..life is not all about you...you and your high minded crew help make a change..we all have a purpose and it is not to badger the color of races... I do agree though that in general, the areas bordering SE DC like Glassmanor, Suitland, and parts of Temple Hills tend to be the most violent areas of the county.

No, no definitely not. I meant the safest areas inside the Beltway in Prince George's County are in Northern PG. You're right, the safest areas of PG are definitely outside the Beltway (Bowie, Laurel, Upper Marlboro, Mitchellville, Lanham-Seabrook, Largo). I myself used to live in Mitchellville growing up.

I actually live on the border of Ft. Washington and Oxon Hill. I cross the street a few feet and am in in either town. My neighborhood is outside the beltway and I find Oxon Hill inside the beltway and outside the beltway to be two different things. National Harbor is in Oxon Hill outside the beltway...not that they like to advertise that. So as a resident here I do not find Oxon Hill outside the beltway to be any higher crime that Ft. Wash. Inside the beltway is another story and an entirely different vibe.
Also I am not sure of actual official borders per govt viewpoint but most that I know consider South County to be anything to the west of Branch Ave. which would not include Silver Hill or Suitland which are more central county to me. South County in my view is Clinton, Ft. Washington, Accokeek, Brandywine, Temple Hills, Oxon Hill, etc. Silver Hill and Suitland are also not included in the police department's crime districting for South County.
I think the inside vs outside beltway view is most helpful.

Seriously though like one area is questionable and that would be Oxon Hill. Everything else is fine. Let the racial fear mongering continue......

suitland and forestville are 2 of the most dangerous areas. suitland had the most violent housing project in the county until they closed it down. some parts may not seem so bad but don't get it twisted. also, forestville has the infamous FOREST CREEK neighborhood ( its not called that anymore) but the county is cleaning those problem areas up though.
Of course you didnt see nothing dangerous cause how often do you witness something dangerous while on business?

Alright, I read through all 167 posts on this thread and not once (unless I missed it) did I see anyone ask the original OP - why does his significant other desperately want to live in PG?
He may be better served if he puts out a few reasons why she wants to live here and then replies can be given specifically to that.
If he's not already shopping in another state already.

Adelphi is not near SE. It is next to College Park. It is not bad there either. I lived in just about all of Northern PG Cty. Loved it. Skipped over the rest and moved to Charles Cty. Love it. Suitland is not great. You just have to use common sense and the is where ever you go. I work in Suitland so I know what goes on here. My friend lives in Suitland so I see also. Forestville is not that great either. I wouldn't want to live in either of these place.
