Hi eveyone, I'm relocating to Maryland and in the process of trying to find an apartment. I'll actually be working on Columbia but have expanded my search out a ways in an attempt to save some money.

I found a few places in Laurel that seem worth checking out. Can anyone offer some insight as to how safe the area is? Also, what type of commute can I expect from Laurel to Columbia. Map quest said 20 minutes, but I'm worried it might end up being closer to 40.

Thanks in advance!

I used to live in College Park and worked in Columbia and it only took me about 20 minutes then. I dont see any reason it would take 40 minutes to get there from laurel. As far as how safe it is, Im sure its not as safe as Columbia itself but I wouldnt call it a dangerous city.

I am a Howard County resident and I am on the road a lot at all hours of the day due to my profession. There are several ways to get from Columbia to Laurel and the commute should really only be around 20 minutes or so - even with traffic.
