Default Ocean City in December??

We're in CA and are traveling to PA for Christmas to visit family. I lived in MD until I was 5 and then we moved to CA.

I've got some wonderful memories of Ocean City in the 70's and 80's. We used to go for a week each time we'd fly back east to visit family in the summers. Sadly, last time I was there it was 1985. I was 16 and spent a week with my cousins and still remember that magical week.

I want to take my kids to OC. We don't get back east but every so often and usually are not in the area and have other things booked.

I know it sounds crazy, but we have 3 free days between Christmas and New Years and was wondering if OC is out of the question as a place to see that time of year? Yes, I know it's winter, but we'll most likely not be back that way for many years.

Advice? Where to stay, what to do? Is the boardwalk open in the winter?

There isn't much open on the Boardwalk but most hotels are open. Quality Inn Express on 17th st. is a beautiful hotel overlooking boardwalk & ocean. OC also has The Festival of Lights at the inlet & park. You can find this information on OCOCEAN.com under calendar of events & check out the hotel I mentioned plus other.

Also, it doesn't matter what time of year it is (I've been there for every season), Ocean City is still beautiful and peaceful. I'm not sure if they're open all year, but I do know that there are still some stores, arcades and restaurants that remain open on the boardwalk even before and after summer (you've got nothing to lose by checking it out, I'd say go for it)
