Default Frederick County MD

How are the schools in Frederick county? Specifically Frederick. Where would you recommend a couple in the lower 30's with children, working in Montgomery County live? No more then a 40 minute drive. I am looking for affordable housing 350K in a decent area with a decent school district. I do not know a whole lot about the county any light you can shine on it would be greatly appreciated.

You could also try out towards Libertytown. I hear fairly good stuff about Liberty High, anyway. Sorry I can't be more help.

The 40 minute drive from Frederick to Montgomery County is probably impossible if you have to leave during rush hour. Maybe look at Urbana since it is the part of Frederick County closest to Montgomery.

Liberty High is in Eldersburg, Carroll County, not Frederick Co. Libertytown is a sorta quaint little town with an Elemetary. I think kids there would go to Linganore High.

How much home are you looking for in that $350k range? In Urbana, probably the only thing you'll get in that range is a large TH or a smallish older single (3bdr maybe with a garage). You may really want to look at the New Market or Mt. Airy area. You're most direct commute to Mont. Co. would be through the country (probably MD 27) which can be good and bad. You usually won't ever be in stop and go traffic but you'll rarely get to drive very fast.

As with everything, there are tradeoffs....

We currently live in Severna PArk, MD are we better off staying here and commutting? The schools here are excellent. He is trying out for the police department there. He is going to try to get the district closest to Anne Arundel County, which is BUrtonsville/Tacoma Park. What do you think about that commute?

Default fredrick co

I have been in Frederick for over 35 years and raised 3 children and believe me Frederick has alot to offer a family who wants a good education for their children. My last child is getting ready to graduate and believe me I Frederick definitely is the place to raise a family. There are great schools here...however to be honest we made sure we were in the school district we wanted our children to go to just the right schools

Good School Listings:

Yellow Spring Elementary
Whitter Elementary
Monocacy Elementary

Middle School:

TJ Middle
Monocacy Middle

High School:

Gov Thomas Johnson High
Frederick High

Good Luck.....there are many different neighborhoods and the range of housing is many. We are getting ready to sell our 3 yr old 4 bedroom Townhouse and I know the prices are crazy...so good luck
