Default small towns Near Salisbury or Annapolis

My Husband and I are looking to relocate and he is looking at some jobs around the, Maryland, we are looking at either Salisbury or Annapolis We want to start a family so are looking for areas that have good schools, Low crime etc(smaller towns are better). He doesn't mind having to commute a little maybe like 30 min commute or even a commuter rail would be great! We are also looking for a place that is not extremely expensive. 250K - 300K would be great

any suggestions (does a place like that even exist in that area)

Okay. Don't know where you're from but MD doesn't have "towns" like many states do. Actually only 157 incorporated municipalities in the entire state.

Annapolis and Salisbury are worlds apart. The Eastern Shore where Salisbury is located is rural and jobs are scarce. Salisbury does have a mini-reputation for crime, some ratings have it as one of the worst cities in the US. Be wary of those ratings for a number of reasons. Housing prices are generally lower on the Shore. No real public transportation. You are near Ocean City which may have some employers who would hire an accountant. Salisbury is in Wicomico County. and is

Annapolis is the State Capital. Costs there follow the DC area as being higher, $300K might get you a house. Jobs are more plentiful on this side of the Bay. Public transportation to DC/closer in suburban MD has to be driven to.

This website gives you the incorporated towns and a bit of information for each:
Municipal League, MD - Official Website - Member Cities & Towns

This website is for the Counties:
Maryland Association of Counties - Counties

Some may get on here and liken Salisbury to the 7th level of Hell.

And if they did, it would be silly, because it isn't. But it's also not especially great in any way.

if you decide on salisbury, try fruitland or delmar, delmar has less crime, but fruitland is closer to the city.

If you are interested in Salisbury, the biggest business is Perdue, the chicken processor. I counted 6 accounting jobs on their web site.

Wicomico County schools ( where Salisbury is located), are not very good. I would not send my children there.
I am not sure about schools in Annapolis...

I know many successful people who graduated from the three major high schools in Salisbury. YMMV.

Why not look at Edgewater or Riva or Davidsoneville or Crofton. Those are small townish, but are also suburbanish. They are closer to DC and on the edge of all the shopping etc in Annapolis. Commuting across the bay bridge is not fun.

I am sure there are MANY sucessful people who have gone to school there, just as there are many unsucessful people who have gone to top rated school districts. There are always exceptions.
The OP asked about schools and Wicomico County are rated poorly on several of the school search sites.
Having lived on the Eastern Shore for many years and knowing many people, their reputation is not great.
If I were new to the area and researching school diatricts, Wicomico County would not be someplace I would look.
