I always use my blinker when changing lanes and making turns. If you are not using your signals when changing lanes, even in heavy traffic, it is because you are not a skilled driver. How is that I can do it 100% of the time and others can't? It's because either they aren't capable of the hand eye coordination or they are being lazy. When I'm on the highway and using my signals it really is just a friendly gesture to the driver in the next lane over to let them know I'm coming over. If you put on your blinker wanting to change lanes and hope that the person coming up in the next lane is going to be nice and let you over you are mistaken. You'll never get over in this area.

Recently I decided to try to be a gentle driver and be really courteous. I almost got into so many accidents I said to hell with this. People were driving all over me! I'm not an aggressive driver in a negative way, but I drive with a purpose. And I obey the laws. I wish the police or county could do something about all these construction trucks with the 20 ladders stacked on top. One morning I saw a ladder standing upright in the middle of 270! I never drive behind or beside those trucks.

Also, stop for pedestrians in crosswalks! I can't tell you how many times I've almost gotten rear ended and honked at when stopping for someone in the freaking middle of the road! Give me a break. You're not that important and no one is waiting for you.
Now you see why not using the signal does not say anything about the skills of the driver.

It's simple. Grow a driving brain and be the better driver. Read what the idiot in Prius is going to do, because you already know what the car can do in any situation. So do it. Start reading drivers habits. This should come natural to you if you grew up in a city where everyone drives everywhere, like Georgia, Alabama, etc.

Last thing. Don't ever get upset. This will cloud your judgement like a night out with Tequila and you'll do something really stupid, and you'll end up putting a lot of people's lives in jeopardy, not to mention all of the Butterfly Effects from people getting home later from your tragic accident.
