Post Hi! Young professional moving to MD

I am considering a move to MD next year. I will be working as a pharmacist but the exact location is not certain. I need to figure out where I would live before I inform my potential employers of the region I would like to work in. I am looking to rent a condo (pets allowed) or a town home for the first few months before I buy. I am in my early 20s, female, not married, no kids and my annual income will be in the 100k range. The perfect place would be safe but still have plenty of things to do (libraries, malls, cinemas, restaurants, museums, recreational areas, walkable areas-I love walking, e.t.c or at least be in close proximity to places that offer these). I would love a town that is friendly, not snobbish/materialistic if thats possible. Ethnic diversity/acceptance is a must (I am Nigerian). I have heard Columbia or Gaithersburg may fit the bill.

I do plan to visit at some point however if you can offer any helpful advise I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Columbia and Gaithersburg are both great places, although I like Gaithersburg more. Silver Spring is very diverse also.
