Default What's your take on Aspen Hill?

I got a new job at Rockville MD, and I can't justify those $2200 a month, 1b/1b apartments in Rockville since... well, I don't want to pay it. Plus, I'm pretty sure if I wanted to, I could spend more and live in Dupont Circle, where everything is.

So, I'm looking at Aspen Hill. I'm from Georgia, and believe it or not, the highway system is same in GA as in DC, and with that system, I could predict what area is what, since I don't know intimately about DMV area (even after 2 years of living in Silver Springs {East West Hwy with new high rises), DC, Arlington, Germantown, Frederick, etc}

Here it is:

1. What is your take on living in Aspen Hill, MD? It should line up exactly as Alpharetta GA.
2. Where is a good apartment to live in Rockville MD? I've looked at few, read reviews online, etc.
- The Crossing at Washingtonian is what I've looked at so far.
- A town home in Aspen Hill

I have a dog and a cat. That's what I have to work with, and I'm happy to do that. I make a pretty good living, single, no attachments, no bills, and no debt. But I don't want to have to get guns to make sure I'm safe at night, or have to conceal carry (I'll do it, if I have to) to walk my dog at late nights.

Thanks for your inputs.

Aspen Hill is more affordable than Rockville. There is certainly some crime, and you should read the reviews in apartment ratings site, and check the spotcrime-type web sites. I consider it safe enough to walk a dog, but I'd carry an alarm.

I have suggested the you also check Realtor.com for rentals. These are frequently individually owned condos, and they are generally better buildings. Sometimes the prices are better than the big rental complexes.

Some crime is ok. Just as long as it's not too personal. Stolen cars, and robbery will be covered by my insurance, so I'm not worried about that. And if any kid decide to test his luck by sticking me up at night to steal $20 in my wallet, then I'll have a cure for that too. I just want a quiet time after work, where I could spend some time with my dog, and relax watching some movies. That's all I want for the next 10 years.

Just a heads-up, CCW laws are terrible in Maryland.
