No, more like setting himself up to run in '16

O'Malley screwed his presidential chances up when he flubbed that answer on Face the Nation. He's looking more like our next senator once Mikulski retires.

EDIT: Check out these sites which give the possible 2016 candidates: http://www.2016election.com/

Here's my candidates for the Dems:

*Hillary Clinton
*Brian Schweitzer (Winner)
*Deval Patrick
*Joe Biden
*Mark Warner

Young Sarbanes is in line for that. That's one reason his District was tinkered with this year and one map had it coming down into SoMD through Anne Arundel.

Hmm...I've never heard John Sarbanes mentioned as a candidate. It's usually either O'Malley or Van Hollen.

Those two are certainly in the mix but O' Malley has public housing on PA Ave. in mind, Van Hollen is also angling to move up in the House and replacing Steny when he retires to be in line for Speaker.

One rumor floating around here (What is now the 8th district and used to be the 6th) IS that when Van Hollen saw how his district had been screwed up he stormed into O'Malley and ranted about MoM purposely butchering his district so he would have to spend time courting Republican votes to defend his House seat when he was planning on positioning himself for a run at the Senate when Mikulski retired. This would weaken his ability to fight MoM in the Primary when the time came. Supposedly Mom just let him rant and smiled

I haven't heard that one, but that's how O'Malley rolls. Expect no quarter if he perceives you, or your community, as opposing him.

It may be messed up but welcome to Maryland Democrat politics. Where do you think Pelosi learned her 'take no prisoners' style? At her daddy's knee in B'more!
