We are taking a last minute trip to MD this weekend to see a friend...and in the way want to stop and stay in OC one or two night... Places online are all saying no rooms, or over $200! What's a better way to get a cheaper place on the beach/boardwalk?? Call some places directly? Any recommendations? Help greatly appreciated! For 2 adults 2 kids.

You could try looking in West Ocean City. There are a few hotels along Route 50 and they might be cheaper.

Check out the Francis Scott Key on Rt 50. Nice clean place with lots of stuff for kids to do on site, and runs continuous shuttles all day to the beach/boardwalk (its only a few minute ride on the shuttle).

Weekend--Ocean front--a day or two? I don't think so. As stated earlier look inland. Or you could check out the Inlet water front rentals on the city-ocean side or the other side, before the 50 bridge.
