One of the water privileged communities along College Parkway seems like a good option. Very quick to get into Annapolis and not bad up to Baltimore by Ritchie Hwy. Lots of variety (town houses to large homes)

You might look into Severna Park, Arnold or Edgewater. Very close to water access or at least the south river and also within ten minutes of downtown annapolis.
