Follow-up question about renting a studio / 1 BR apt or condo in Annapolis. Below is a fairly recent post warning a prospective renter about Annapolis crime and the numerous less-than-desireable areas of the city. Are there really a lot of Section 8 complexes for Anne Arundal County? Appreciate advice /guidance. I'm looking to rent a condo starting Oct or Nov 1, 2012 and I'm from out-of state."I lived in or near Annapolis for a very long time and there are huge areas that are bad. Just about anywhere in Eastport from 6th St. south should probably be avoided. The entire area between Forest Dr and Hilltop Ln. Anything with the name Newtown, Bywater or Harborhouse. The list just goes on and on. Annapolis is Section 8 Central for Anne Arundel County and it has been for a very long time. That said, there are relatively safe areas there. But you absolutely need to be careful because the bad areas are spread all over the city. If you live near one of those areas make sure you don't leave anything out because it will probably be gone soon. Lock your car and don't leave anything in it. Be careful at night."

Thanks for the feedback. What areas (streets) do you recommend to look to lease a condo or apt? Any studios/1BR's in histoic/vintage buildings near the waterfront? Parking a car a problem? Thanks again
