Default Commute to Anacostia

Hello, I currently live in a condo in Adams Morgan in DC and my husband and I want to move to Maryland. He works at Bolling Air Force base at Anacostia. We want to start a family and I would like to at least entertain the possibility of not working. Therefore, we would like to upgrade in size but downgrade in price. I want to live in a nice, friendly area with good schools. My husband will need to be able to drive to a green line station easily (I know lots fill up but he can go to work early). I would really prefer a house with a yard to a TH. I would like some sort of charm--be it residential or countryside. I just don't want to be surrounded by strip malls; nearby parks/lakes a big asset! (although immediate neighborhood probably more important). A reasonably strong community would also certainly be a plus. I would love to meet other couples in ther 30s. As if all of this wasn't too much to ask, we need to find a place as inexpensive as possible. Ideally, $300-350. I would appreciate any advise. Thanks!
