You would think so until you take into account that it's a state program, not federal. Hopefully something changes soon.

That's unusual. I wonder if they're aware that if they aren't getting HI that they can negotiate that difference the employer isn't paying on their behalf as a salary increase. Many people aren't aware of that, and the only person winning in that equation is the employer.

It's actually my wife that has the good bennies. I said that earlier. I'm self employed and am on my wife's HI.

It's not actually compensation in the eyes of the IRS. And the portion that my wife pays is 100% deductible.
