Default Short cut/back road/please help me get there!

Hi fellow marylanders!

I am trying to get from Silver Spring, MD Georgia Avenue to Georgetown University by way of a back road and/or short cut.

My current route is Connecticut ave (which is congested) over to Nebraska over to 37th and down into Georgetown...

I am new to area, not sure of a park, back road I can use, please help! I live 17 minutes away from Georgetown and it takes 1.5 hours to get there sometimes. Please help! Thanks!

Where exactly do you live in Silver Spring? Georgetown is a difficult part of the city to get to during rush hour. If you are North of downtown Silver Spring, my guess is that you're going to be looking at an hour no matter what during the height of rush hour.

Default Georgetown

I have mapquested this... and I have a GPS.... just wandering about a short cut/back road, etc. I know that both the GPS and mapquest give you cut & dry generic direction. So... I was looking for a short cut that someone maybe aware of. I do live north of downtown Silver Spring. Thanks in advance!

It would kind of help if you could let us know exactly what part of the commute is causing problems. If it is the 'whole damn thing' well then, it's kind of rough. But if it is one street or another than maybe we can recommend a few work arounds.

And what part of Gtown? Wisc/M, the University, the Hospital? Can also make a difference.

Not knowing exactly where you are in SS makes it difficult. I live off of NH Ave. about 6 miles N of the beltway. I used to work right outside of G'town - 25th and M. At the time the best route for me was NH to Piney Branch, which eventually turns into 13th st. Right on Arkansas(?) and left onto Rock Creek Psrkway to the P St exit.

A friend who lives nearby and still works there leaves before 6:00 AM and can make it in under an hour via Conn Ave. His return trip is always over an hour.

16th St worked for someone else. If you're driving during the rush hours I doubt if you can get the commute under an hour. Good Luck!
