Default Moving back to Maryland

I am originally from Maryland, specifically Anne Arundel county, but moved to New York in high school. I have been "gone" for about 15 years. Although I have family still there and visit as much as possible I am still unsure of what the nicer/ more affordable areas are. I am now looking to move back. I have a family so great schools would be important as well. We plan to rent for a little while just to get settled. Can anyone give me some advice on the nicer/ safe areas that wouldn't break the bank? I have friends and family in Pasadena, Manchester and Catonsville so anything around these areas. Or can you tell me areas to absolutely avoid. Much appreciated

If you're talking about Manchester in Carroll County, it's just a small town that sits on Rt. 30. But they are building the bypass now, so in a few years traffic shouldn't be such a problem. From Manchester, you're only 15 minutes from the 795 Expressway. Don't know anything about Pasadena, but Catonsville I've been in once and really liked it. Old neighborhood feel, close to Baltimore without so many problems to go with it, is what other people have said on here. Good luck with your search! Although many people don't like the changes that have come to Md., there are still plenty of slower-paced places to live if you don't mind the commute. I still really like it here.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. I visit at least 4 times a year and the changes are noticeable. I just had to move my grandparents out of the house they lived in for over 50 years b/c the area had become too "developed" for them. This is my problem. If I could just go back to where I was raised it would be easy but nothing is the same.
Thanks again. Pray for me

I would suggest splitting the areas and look into Linthicum and Elkridge. They are both very affordable and safe. Pasadena in my opinion is nice but I'm a waterfront guy so by that reason alone Pasadena is nice - granted it's not the most classiest of areas. Catonsville has its rough spots - the farther you are on the outside of the Baltimore beltway the better things will get.

Hello, Howard county has very good schools and the area is nice. Yes, ther's lots of changes but that's happening everywhere's. Not all change is bad.
