Does anyone have some suggestions for very safe areas of Columbia, MD to live? And do you have any apartment complex suggestions?

If you qualify, The Evergreens in the Town Center is for people age 55 and over. It advertised security with controlled entrances.

I went through Apartmentratings.com, selected the 4 of the highest rated places, and checked them against spotcrime.com . All of them show some amount of nearby burglaries. Some show nearby assaults. I can't recommend them as "very safe areas".

Are you set on living in Columbia? If not, I'd suggest a more rural area like the Maple Lawn community in Fulton, or out in Clarksville.

I've lived here most of my life. There are lots of areas here with really safe neighborhoods, but where the apartments are, things get less ideal. If you don't already know, Columbia is divided into villages. If I was moving to an apartment around here, I'd go with apartments in Hickory Ridge (one of the villages). That area is quiet and pretty safe, despite all the apartments. You just have to watch out for the occasional deer. I know someone who lives at The Greens complex over there, and is very happy with it.

As someone else mentioned, you could look at Clarksville also. That's just next to Columbia, and very nice as well. There are some apartments (or condos, not sure which) next to the River Hill village center there.

Me personally, I would completely avoid the apartments in Oakland Mills, Long Reach, Harper's Choice, and Wilde Lake.
