Geographically speaking, would you consider it to be in the Northeastern Sector or the Southeastern Sector of the east coast?

Noaa climatically and geographically has it as the ''Mid atlantic" which makes up 1 part of the northeast along with New England. for the unaware, Noaa is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the top weather administration in the country where all major climate/weather alerts come from.

As you can see, virginia southward to florida is considered southeast (as it is by most places/people). And even though it doesn't show it on this particular map, noaa considers Maryland up to NY as the mid atlantic (which as stated before, and on the map, is part of the Northeast).

I can see arguments being made that it could be geographically southeast though, what do you guys think?

Please no flame wars, i'm sure there are marylanders proud of their southern heritage, i'm just speaking GEOGRAPHICALLY, and not heritage wise.

No. I've lived in Maryland for 39 years. And I consider it part of the lower northeast, which is the same as the mid-Atlantic region.

Maryland is in the same geographic region as Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, but more transitional.

No, too far north and too many liberals. It's a blue state right? I think of it being a Northern State.

Maryland is considered either part of the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and the Southeast. It is also geographically located above the mid-point of the East Coast between Maine and Florida.

TN not being in the Southeast is just plain wrong, but almost everything else on that map looks pretty accurate to me (save KS and IL...).

Maryland is, I think, a Northeastern state with Southern elements. Rural parts along the coast are quite southern, but the cities are more Northeastern. I wouldn't consider it Southern because at it's southern boundary with Virginia, it's not quite the South yet.

I have never really heard of Maryland being geographically part of the Southeast.
