We got a room at the Quality Inn on 33rd Street for the OC air show this year. I have been many times but not with kids, and never for the air show. Mine are 3 years, the other is 6 months and the 3 yo LOVES airplanes.

Anyway, I made the reservations kinda late so the closest hotel we could get to the show center (15th/16th streets) was this one. Has anyone been before- specifically, will we be able to see any action from 33rd street? And is there an area with planes and exhibits on the ground that you can visit? I checked the website but it's not very helpful.

Will also take any tips on good places to take kids if you have them! Thanks!

You should be able to see it from anywhere on the boardwalk, so chances are you'll see the planes, from the beach at 33rd St. If you want to get closer, leave your car at the hotel and walk down the beach as far as you can. You'll see planes regardless of where you are. I worked on 52nd St. and Coastal Highway last year, and they buzzed our office for days :-)

There were separate military parachute demonstrations last year. They had scheduled landings at Macky's Bayside and at the casino on Rt. 589 near Ocean Pines. They were fun, I hope they do it again this year.

You might want to take your kids to Assateague State Park/National Seashore to see ponies and go crabbing and/or clamming, kayaking, etc. You can rent equipment there, on the bayside. The visitors center is fun for kids, too. They have interesting exhibits, and there's a little theater where you can watch a movie about the ponies.

Enjoy!!
