I love going to OC in the summer time. A few friends and I are looking to visit this summer. Is August a good month to go or should we plan for earlier? We're all in our early 20s.

I prefer mid-July to early September. R-n-R in OC and party in Dewey Beach.

'R-n-R' is better known as 'R&R', which is an acronym that means 'Rest and Recuperation'. It's etymology is likely from usage in military vernacular, however today it is now a commonly used expression.

Thanks for the explanation. I could definitely use some R&R. I work an executive job at a marketing agency, my one friend is getting deployed to Afghanistan in January, and my other friend is studying to complete his Bachelor degree ahead of time.

Mid July is good. Late May to the end of June is basically teenagers out of HS, College Students, and HS Graduates...They are known as "June Bugs"

The Party Block is a good place, also Club Secrets is a good spot also. Both 21 and over and are great especially when part of the club is outside.

I am at ocean city right now and it is great. This is the best time for some private time at the parks and beaches, if you can handle doing it during the day (evenings are still too cold to lounge about in). Condo rental prices are also 2 to 3 times cheaper than during peak season right now. If you like people around though, now is not a great time. At the ocean city boardwalk it is a relative ghost town.

September is a great month for Ocean City if you want to avoid the traffic and crowds. Even the last week in August will allow you to avoid families with school age children, since many schools are back in session a week before Labor Day.

Prime season here begins July 1 and runs through mid-August, but it's busy here until after the bike and car weeks in October.

The clubs are definitely busiest during peak season. But come Sept., a lot of them have specials -- and special events -- for locals and property owners who use their properties in the off-peak season. Half-price dinners, happy hour specials, etc., save you a lot of money. So do the reduced rates! Rates for vacation rentals and hotels start dropping after the second week in August. By the first week in September, they've dropped substantially.

Without a doubt it's end of summer. For decades I would always go the weekend after Labor Day. Weather is perfect, ocean temps are warm (unlike June/early July when it feels like the Artic Ocean), crowds are gone and best of all off season rates kick in. Only trade off is every now and then you will get temps that may be too cool to swim, say cloudy and mid 70's. But that is a matter of opinion.

Now that schools start earlier and we are now staying at a friend's beach house and don't pay for a hotel we find that the end of August is even better. Temps still feel like beach weather but you avoid the really hot miserable days that you can get in July and the rare "too cool" days of Sept. Because the schools are open the crowds are gone. I'm telling you getting a table for dinner at 7:00 in July is a battle, as is finding a great spot on the beach. In late August/Sept it's a breeze.
