I'm looking for a nice town in MD, I know cute small towns with coffee shops and sidewalk shops hardly exist anymore, but are there any in MD or any recommendations of a nice suburb? Any info you can give me ill greatly appreciate!

Is proximity to an job something that matters to you? I can list some places that fit the bill out my way, but they are pretty far away from the state's major employment centers.

For right now proximity to jobs aren't a major deal. We are a military family and on active duty in FL but if my husband can't retrain, I want to move closer to PA but not in PA because other than family, it has nothing more to offer haha.

Sykesville or Mount Airy might fit you needs.

Off the top of my head I would go with Ellicott City, Sykesville, Westminster, Taneytown, Savage, Hereford, Hampstead for some towns located within the Baltimore metro area.

If location to work simply isn't a concern you owe it to yourself to check out Chestertown, just over the Bay Bridge.

By the way I share your love for Main Street USA in a small town. Westminster has a really nice one. And of course Mount Airy does as well but it's not as nice as Westminster's.

Historic Ellicott City might be worth considering.

I'll second Chestertown or some town on the upper eastern shore off the beaten path to Ocean City.
