Default is it possible to rent here for under $1000/month

I am considering a job offer in frederick. The salary would be great if I was staying in TN, but I'm not so sure if its still good for the area.

My question is: Is there anywhere in the frederick area that I can rent (preferably a house, because I have a large dog) for less than or around $1000/month?

I would like to live between Frederick and DC or in Frederick, but will consider the other side of frederick if costs are significantly cheaper.

Thanks, Wes

There is no way you can rent a house in Frederick or around Frederick for under $1000. In fact you'll have a hard time finding a two bedroom apartment in a decent area for under $1000.

A house in that price range is pretty much out of the question, but you may be able to get a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment for around 800-950. I just checked the local MLS and there are 13 properties active in that area for less than $1,000/mo, but they're all apartments or townhouses.

What is MLS?

Also, are there any big rental companies that have websites with listings?

I know for sure you can find a single family house for rent in Hagerstown for 1000/month or less. Its about a 30 min drive west on I70. The downside is the traffic going west out of Frederick after 3:00 pm on Friday afternoons sucks, really bad. You might also find something in the Boonsboro or Keedysville area.

the MLS is the realtor's multiple listing service. Hagerstown might be a good alternative for trying to find a single family home at that price. If you'd like to check the multiple listing service for available rentals, I suggest trying realtor.com, you can search for rentals there very easily.
