Hello, all.

I posted about my relo in the DC forum until I concluded that it'll be better if I live in Maryland instead of DC, based on my work commute.

My question has to do with CCW permits. I'm a single 50+ year-old woman from MO cognizant of personal protection. I currently have a CCW permit in MO and I recently discovered that MD doesn't recognize my state's permits.

I certainly don't mind going through the process of applying for a new permit in MD (registration, background/criminal check, training, etc.) but I see a stumbling block: To obtain a CCW permit in MD, the MD State Police web page indicates I must have proof of threats to my safety. I have no threats. All I want is protection and of peace of mind.

How does a new resident show such proof? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Debratante

With no proof, no CCW. Proof is an active and documented threat.

Sorry, no CCW except for politicians and their buddies in MD. Proof includes documented threats against you (and the accompanying police reports), proof that you carry large amounts of money for your job or proof that you donated enough money to the governor's reelection campaign. Ok, maybe not that last one.

The point is that people in MD do not have a right to protect themselves and their loved ones except for in their home.

And to make matters worse, SCOTUS declined to hear the outstanding court case about it today.

If it is feasible with commuting, you could consider living in Virginia. Virginia is far more friendly to concealed-carry.

Here's an article on the Supreme Court declining to consider reviewing the last decision: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/mar...,6979042.story

No. They do not recognize any out of state permits.

If you're working in DC, move to VA. You won't regret it. Stay away from the crime ridden socialist armpit of MD at all costs.

^^ Agree. Anywhere in Va, even crowded NoVa is a huge improvement over Md. CCW is virtually impossible to get here, but our knife laws are better than Va. Is there any way to stay in Mo? I think after the Nov. elections Va is going to be bombarded with anti gun proposals. Hope Virginians can fight better than Marylanders, as I hope to be moving doen there myself after the New Year.
