My sister lives in Harrington, DE and she likes the schools there. She is pretty picky about schools. I don't know if that area is an option for you, but it's the only one I have heard feedback on.

I used to live in seaford in 2005 and still keep tabs on development in that area and I would chose Seaford to live because Salisbury has way too many problems. not to say seaford doesn't believe me but Seaford is growing and is getting new retail. in early august Lowes opened. There is a new IHOP and a new shopping enter beside it. A new HomeDepot (do't know where but aoljobs says it's going to be there and there are job spots for it (ie.Manager etc.)). Walmart. A new entertainment mall either currently being built or soon will be behind walmart. There is also a new Biglots and other retail stores. Seaford is also musch more quiet. Living in Seaford you can still drive to Salisbury it is only like 20minutes away.

Nearly none of those so-called "jobs" you mention will afford you a nice place in Seaford. The real estate market has overpriced itself compared to the local job market and unless you enjoy little to no entertainment activities outside of work then Seaford is for you. Salisbury isnt much better but at least the nightlife there doesnt include hanging out at Walmart or the new IHOP. The Eastern Shore, in general, is geared more towards retirees and ppl that like the "quiet lifestyle". To each his own.

Thumbs down Don't DO IT

I live in Seaford, DE and can't wait to get out of here...I was raised in North DE and swore I'd never come back, but my kids seeing their relatives was important, so I did. I lived in DC/VA Metropolitan area for 20 years. There is NOTHING worth while here. No motivation, no style...nothing. The people are nice, but definitely a whole different lifestyle. Most important, the schools are not good. You would want to strongly consider private/christian school. It's the kind of place where not many take pride in themselves. Enough said?

If the OP was still interested I would probably consider Seaford now due to the sheer amounts of crime in Salisbury. Murders, numerous armed/bank robberies, drug/gang issues and a rather lazy local govt at solving any of these public problems.

BTW blondeleo I couldnt agree more with you.

I agree... Salisbury is becoming less and less of a "decent" place to live. On the news this morning they are reporting about more gang activity and shootings. 5 people shot by gangs... sounds like a fun entertaining place to live eh?

I'd choose Parsonsburg, Willards, Pittsville area - close drive to the stores, far enough away from the crime.

There are plenty of property crimes in those areas as well. My neighbors just had their garage broken into and a few months back there was a serial robber in the Parsonsburg area committing home invasions. You wont hear about these crimes though because most are covered up by the local media. Yeah, its real fun living here. Its a security systems company gold-mine. Eventually all the crime from Salisbury will start to spill over to the outside areas. Its not good.
