Smile Moving back to Maryland

My family and I want to move back to MD from FL. We left MD over 2 years ago. My husband works in the IT field and has been applying for jobs. However most of these companies don't reply back and everything is done via e mail. I guess because we live out of state companies are less interested.
Would anyone have any suggestions or advice?
Thanks.

Is there a local address you can use? or get a PO Box. Also get a cell number that is local or contact vonage and get a 301/240/ or local number. You don't have to be located in MD to get a local area code from vonage.

Default Same Situation

We are in the same situation. We moved to FL around 3 years ago and are looking to move back to MD this spring. My husband is in the IT field as well. He has had the best success using recruiters. His favorite so far is Robert Half Technology.

Robert Half Technology – Information Technology Consultants – IT Staffing Services

Maybe your husband could contact them and let the recruiter assist with his job search.

What part of FL do you live in? What part of MD are you moving back to?

Hi cadubs,

We are looking to go back to Middle River/White Marsh area or Columbia. We currently live in Sebastian.
I know that my husband has applied to positions through Robert Half but the same thing, never gets a response back.
I also would like to move back in May or June.

It's going to be kind of hard unless you can get to MD on a minutes notice for interviews. Have you tried Tech job fairs in FL where the companies have offices in MD? I agree with the other poster, you'll need an in state address to be competitive for jobs. There is already so much competition for jobs here that most companies won't deal with the hassel of an out of state applicant. Get one of those TracFones and get a MD local area code. They barely cost anything and since you won't be talking so much on it, it could be used as a voicemail per se

My company is hiring IT people. We're in downtown Silver Spring. We get people from all over that country. Use this link to see job listings: Inmagic DB/Text WebPublisher PRO: 10 records
