I live in an area of Maryland with a lot of new neighborhoods and a very distinctive personality from its associated town. The question has come up as to how we can go about applying for a new zip code and town name.

How exactly would an area go about doing this? What sort of evidence would we need to provide to achieve such a goal?

Links to any documentation or general assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The Zip Code would be a Post Office thing.

A new name, that would start at the County level where a new sub-division name would have to be registered. That likely won't happen.

To incorporate a town you have to do this:

This is the form you'd use:

A note, Counties really don't like municipalities, they cut in to the County's tax revenues.

Thanks, this is much more helpful than I was expecting so quickly. I appreciate your help!
