Hello, I have just recently moved back to Cumberland after a few years of absence with in the past several years the city has done a lot with their vacant buildings downtown to fix them up and get them ready for commercial, dining, and retail. I've been looking into business myself so I know some of the rent prices on these buildings, some are floating the bill for a year so that a business could get up and running in there. Downtown is in need of a modern diner with fair pricing and open on Sundays. It seems that the artist renaissance that people have been talking about for so long is finally here. Checking out Upcoming Events will give a good idea of the summer in the city events, but they only have the official events listed, several pubs and galleries are doing their own. I just saw Rhonda Vincent tonight in Cumberland, so cool to see some stuff happening here again.

https://www.facebook.com/events/269036916600447/ This is a Facebook link to an event the city is holding to show buildings in the area. May 31st is also a date that there will be artists downtown doing live paintings and drawings and being judged on them.

I just moved to Cumberland last week and I love it! I'm looking forward to the free concerts and farmers markets. I moved down from MA to be close to friends and be a full time artist. (Yes, the cost of living is low enough down here for me to afford to live my dream!) Everyone has been so friendly and I moved at the most beautiful time of year. Cumberland rocks!!!!!

I like to hear good news. And yes, our extended cool spring is the most beautiful we have seen in years. I personally love watching "spring" move up the mountain ridges a few hundred feet a day.

Based on some anecdotal City-Date evidence, yes! Other than that, the beat is going on. No real steps backward, but no real great news to announce either.

Cumberland, like any city, has its harsh realities... 2 guys were fighting on my street yesterday and the cops had to be called... the rescue mission has a large influx of people... the traffic sucks around the downtown area, especially on the I68... to name just a few. However, there's a vibe here that just feels good... like tiny shoots are breaking through the earth to meet the sun and grow!

I'm glad to hear it. I just noticed an uptick in c-d posts about it. One of the neatest places in MD
