47 percent of Marylanders would like to leave the state - baltimoresun.com

What are the negatives about maryland that make it this undesirible. I never heard of maryland being so disliked and complained about until about 5-10 years ago

The grumpy people and negative attitudes as well as crime made us get out of there years ago. There are some wonderful and beautiful places in the state, but the cost of living and the stress that has come along with that has made a lot of the population not all that pleasant to be around. Everyone has their own perspective on this, but a lot of my friends and family stay here because they have friends and family here who never left. Many would like to leave, but it's not realistic for them and they have stability here.

If they actually leave then I might move back.

It's not the State... it's them and their rat on the wheel desperation.

Its not the state ; its who the un-informed and dumb (in MD) vote in to run the state. That's what makes it bad.

Have you had a post yet where you didn't complain about liberals?

MD is crowded, expensive, fast-paced, high-stress. It has very little to do with politics. If there was a similar stat for NoVa, I bet you would get a similar number.

Another reason is that I would like to buy a new home but when most of them start at the low $400,000's it's hard to find a nice place without mortgaging your life away. Most of the homes here are cookie cutter homes and are so close to each other. Yuk. Where I am looking to move you can get a nice home not close to your neighbor and in a nice area starting in the $150,000's.
People want to move but are tied down to mortgages and the home market hasn't gotten better.

I agree with you. Virginia is starting to look like Md with all the new taxes etc. You have to move near the VA/NC area to find some nice areas with no hustle and bussel.
