Default Towns in halfway from Frederick to Springfield

I am going to start a small family, no children yet. I have a job in Frederick, MD and my wife get one in Springfield, VA.
We want to rent a studio or 1-bedroom apartment in the halfway between Frederick and Springfield. Our total income is around 100K yearly before tax
I want to find a place that has diversity, safe and affordable. The traffic in the morning is also an important factor.
Some cities come to my mind are Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville and Bethesda.
Could you give me some advice on this?

Thank you
T Ng
