Post Ryan Homes-Eden Rock, Gambrills, MD

Hello,

I have been reading some of the posts on Ryan Homes. I am considering purchasing a condo at Eden Rock at a reduced price. I have been watching them for a year.

Has anyone heard about the quality of construction, fixtures, etc.? I have driven through the area several times. I intend to visit one evening and night to check things out too. The price is awesome, and with the incentives, I am really tempted to give them my money!!

Let me hear from you!

Kushlady

I've heard negative things regarding Ryan Homes from a friend. This is complete hearsay, however, because I can't even recall his exact experience/story.

I almost bought a Ryan home many years ago. I've heard both good & bad things about them.

My own preference is for older, quality contruction. There are some nice neighborhoods tucked between Detrick and Rt.15 where you can buy SFHs for under 300k. These are 40's and 50's homes built entirely of brick, with original wood floors and plaster walls. Solid.

Someday people will realize the value of this limited resource - they're just not built that way anymore!

I totally agree. Though I know from experience old homes can be full of little problems (they always need something). I would be trepadacious about new homes built in the past 5 years. It seems (maybe I'm wrong) that it was an easy enough thing plop up a dozen homes and sell them irrespective of their quality. They might have the spit-and-polish, but I always wonder whats behind the veneer especially when there was, at one point, so much money to be made and so much competition to buy these things that people were buying irrespective of quality.
